As part of Nitrase Therapeutics’ growth and drive toward the clinic, we are seeking to recruit a RA/Associate Scientist/ Scientist, dependent on experience, with biophysical expertise to characterize protein-drug interactions. 


  • Provide enzymology expertise to multiple aspects of the drug discovery process from characterizing novel targets, devising and executing options for hit ID approaches, designing HTS assays, and performing direct binding and mechanism-of-action studies on validated hits 
  • Design, optimize and validate assays for small molecule plate-based assays and high throughput screens across multiple enzyme classes 
  • Design, conduct and analyze mechanistic experiments to understand MOI of small molecules 
  • Effectively compile and present data to project teams in both written and oral forms 
  • Proactively contribute to project teams for design of new molecules and next experiments. 


  • Ph.D. or equivalent in enzymology, biochemistry, biophysics, pharmacology, or related field with 0-3 years of post- doctoral experience; MS with 7 years or more experience in enzymology; preference given to industry experience 
  • Strong background in enzyme kinetics (steady-state, pre-steady state) and mechanism of inhibition studies to fully characterize target-ligand interactions is required 
  • Experience with multiple assay formats and detection methods such as HTRF, FRET, FP, luminescence is required. 
  • Experience using standard data analysis package is required (i.e. Graphpad Prism) 
  • Track record of successful multitasking and rapid experimental execution. 
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and demonstrated strength in working in a matrix organization 
  • Hands on experience with automated liquid handlers and micro titer plate readers for medium throughput compound screening is preferred 
  • Experience with characterization of slow-binding and irreversible inhibitors is preferred 
  • Practical experience in cell culture, cell-based assay development and execution with a strong background in de novo assay design, quality control, and high-throughput processes is preferred 
  • Hands on experience with biophysical methods such as SPR, ITC, NMR or MST is highly desirable 
  • Experience using LC/MS for measurement of enzyme reaction is preferred 
  • Experience working with CROs to manage assay design, execution and data analysis is a plus
