Associate Director/Director – Cell Biology

As part of Nitrase Therapeutics growth and drive toward the clinic, we are seeking to recruit an Associate Director/Director, Cell Biology with extensive hands-on experience with oncology and/or immuno-oncology to lead the cell biology group in early discovery biology and drug discovery efforts.  The successful candidate will report to the Sr. VP, Biology and Head of Oncology and work with functional group leaders to set experimental priorities and timelines, collaborate across scientific disciplines, perform experiments and apply functional genomic, cell biology, and molecular biology techniques to contribute to the understanding of nitrases activity in cancer biology. Experience in experimental approaches such as 2D and 3D cell culture and screening techniques, tumor immunophenotyping, T-cell activity assays, tumor metabolism, NGS, high dimensional flow cytometry, qPCR, single cell RNASeq, immunohistochemistry, CiteSeq, and big data analysis tools are desirable


  • Lead the cell biology group to support multiple discovery programs in accordance with company priorities
  • Develop, execute, and analyze laboratory experiments in the areas of oncology and immuno-oncology
  • Establish novel cellular assays to provide both in vitro proof-of-concept and quantitative read-outs that support preclinical development of therapeutic compounds to support translational development
  • Ability to quickly acquire knowledge, develop and execute in vitro proliferation and cytotoxicity studies. Experience with orthotopic and subcutaneous xenograft and syngeneic in vivo studies desired.
  • Close collaboration with a cross-disciplinary teams and external groups to coordinate and drive complex studies
  • Clear communication of results in written and oral formats
  • Timely and complete experimental documentation in e-notebooks and electronic files
  • Prepare scientific presentations and manuscripts for publication and contribute to intellectual property filings
  • Provide, budgetary input and oversight, develop and authorize SOPs and reports
  • Contribute to building a culture that encourages bold ideas, embraces scientific excellence, integrity, urgency and self-actualization


  • Degree (BA/BS, MS or Ph.D.) in Biology, Pharmacology or related scientific field
  • BS/MS + 15 (AD) or 17(D) or Ph.D. + 12 (AD) or 14(D) years of oncology and/or immuno-oncology experience
  • Industry experience managing cell biology research with direct reports in oncology
  • Research experience in other therapeutic areas is desirable
  • Ability and willingness to perform experiments as needed
  • Experience with multi-color flow cytometry, cytoxicity and proliferation assays
  • General knowledge of biochemical and molecular techniques
  • Drug discovery experience is a plus
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as an integrated leader in a small team environment
  • Detail-oriented, proficient in oral and written communication
  • Ideal candidate will have a thorough ability to conduct high quality, creative bench level work while also understanding the big picture and how to support programs efficiently
